About the Award

About the Amsterdam Science & Innovation Award

The Amsterdam Science & Innovation Award is the Amsterdam competition for innovative ideas with a societal and/or commercial impact. It is an annual competition for the best applicable innovation resulting from Amsterdam research. The feasibility of the idea and the social benefit play an important role in the jury assessment. This award is open to all researchers, staff and students in all disciplines from all Amsterdam universities, universities of applied sciences, academic hospitals and public research centers. The finals of the Award will be held for the thirteenth time on Tuesday, 19 June 2018. This year, the jury will also honor researchers who created a significant impact to society with their impressive innovations. The Impact award is an award for the ‘established’ researchers, who have already acquired a track record in the field of valorisation.

IXA launched the award at the Science Park back in 2005. Since then, it has grown to become an innovation prize that is open to all researchers and students from all of the universities, universities of applied sciences and institutes across Amsterdam.

Since its launch, the Award has generated more than 360 innovative and practical ideas. Many of these have resulted in concrete applications and some even formed the basis for new businesses.
